Caballito Cerrero was founded in 1950 by Don Alfonso Jiménez Rosales — a man so committed to tradition that he refused to compromise, even when it cost him the right to call his spirit “tequila.” The Azul Puntas is an extremely limited release made from the first cuts of the second distillation , capturing a concentration of pure Blue Weber agave character that standard expressions simply can’t touch.
The agave is cooked in a brick steam oven, milled in a double pass mill, fermented in open stainless steel tanks with both wild and proprietary yeast, and distilled in stainless steel and copper. The result at 144 proof is nothing short of electric. On the nose: fresh earthy agave, white pepper, citrus, and tropical fruits with a distinct minerality and herbal undertones. On the palate: tropical fruits, melon, vanilla, honey, and light cinnamon — rich, cohesive, and surprisingly complex for something this powerful.
